BOWA Gives 2023 Girls’ Invite

Last year we hit a major milestone for our organization. Alongside local track enthusiasts, community members, and the Chicago Park District we launched the second annual “Race to Gately; a race to find the fastest kids in Chicago”; an event with over 250 registered youth athletes. These athletes competed on the world class track of the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center. To elevate the experience for the athletes, we had three Olympic athletes present for high fives and photos coupled with the support of leading brand partners like Under Armour. This year we will have Under Armour, Gatorade, and the Cubs as event partners!

From the beginning we had the vision of curating an athletic experience just for female athletes. BOWA Gives appreciates the positive influence that sports play in a girl’s life.  We know that access to sports is one of the major contributing factors that hinder participation. This is due to the lack of resources and support in facilities, programming, and instructors. Sports allow girls to shape long-lasting relationships, establish positive self-image, and build confidence.

Because of that belief, we are hosting our first annual track & field invitational. This will be a 2-day amateur track and field meet just for elementary through high school girls. The track and field meet will feature field events, long distance, mid distance, and the sprints. Like last year, this will be in partnership with Chicago Park District and their Girls P.L.A.Y initiative. The event will take place on November 18th and 19th.

“Being a former female student-athlete, I know firsthand, the significant role that sports played in crafting the woman that I am today. So, it is my responsibility to uplift the next generation of female athletes.”

– Ashley Ehimwenman, Co-founder of BOWA Gives.

Our mission is to encourage and prepare underserved youth, for life, using sport, education, and experience as a means of doing so.

These three pillars are our guiding principles and ensure that we are always connecting with organizations and community partners that share the same focus and passion.
